My dear friend, Kristin, came to visit me this weekend from Oklahoma. It was so good to have her here for a few days. One day we visited some local wineries so that she could experience Yadkin Valley wine. Another day we drove up to the mountains and went canoeing on the New River. The water level was low but we managed to keep from going aground :). We also enjoyed some shopping and dining in Winston. The visit of course was too short but packed full of stuff.

Most of you probably know by now that my cousin Aaron and his family drove to NC recently. It was wonderful to see Aaron and Christy and meet their new son, Gavin. He sure is getting big. During the weekend we had a great time reminiscing … I think I heard remember when about a hundred times between Ryan and Aaron. I think we created a few new memories as well.

I took a trip down to Florida in July to visit my dad and see old college friends. While I was there Valerie and the girls came for a quick visit as well. My dad made birdhouses with Alexis and Bryanna. He got Kristi to do a little bit of the work too! Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of the final product but they did turn out very nice. I am sure some birds will enjoy their new homes.

I recently went to Ohio for my cousin Emily’s wedding. While in Ohio I enjoyed a relaxing picnic at Hueston Woods and took in a Reds game in Cincinnati with David. The Reds actually won!! There are a few photos of the wedding shower thrown for Emily a few days before the wedding also. The ceremony and reception were lovely and just her style. It was so good to be with family and celebrate something so joyous. Best of luck to Emily and Brad.

Two of my nieces came to spend a week with me this summer. They attended a GPS camp I taught and we did lots of fun stuff. We went swimming, watched movies, cooked and played together. It was a great week!!
